Volunteer Opportunities for Adults and High School Students at the Fall Celtic Festival

The Fall Celtic Festival is growing fast, and we’re looking for adults in our area to help us continue building something truly special and lasting. Whether your strengths lean toward organizing, creating, mentoring, or simply belonging to a lively, sociable team, we offer three flexible volunteer roles designed to match your interests and your schedule:

Role #1 — Adult Board Members (Occasional dates and times year round, including monthly board meetings) Help guide our fast‑growing Festival by joining our board, attending our once‑a‑month meetings, supporting new or evolving Festival segments, and helping ensure the overall success of the event. No knowledge of Celtic culture is required—just curiosity, reliability, and a willingness to contribute your strengths. You’ll collaborate with an interesting mix of creatives and cultural experts who play various parts in the Festival, alongside the capable professionals and visionaries who already serve on our board. Board meetings are held in Oakville, usually on the first Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m.

Role #2 — Adult On‑Site Volunteer Supervisors (One Festival weekend in late September: Friday evening and/or daytime on Saturday and/or Sunday)  We also need adults to guide our dozens of high‑school‑age volunteers during the Festival. Your presence will make a real difference—both to the event and to the young people you’re supporting. Clear, calm coordination and communication are essential in these roles, all of them friendly, structured, and well suited to people who enjoy mentoring or community involvement.

Role #3 — Adult On‑Site Grill Masters  (One Festival weekend in late September: Daytime on Saturday and/or Sunday)  Our food service operations need barbecue‑savvy adult chefs to make the grill magic happen in shifts during both days of the Festival weekend. If you enjoy the camaraderie of a summer backyard barbecue, this role offers the same spirit—just with more hungry people to feed.

Volunteer Opportunities for High‑School Students

High‑school students ages 14+ can earn community service hours toward their Ontario Secondary School Diploma by volunteering.

In many cases when signing up, you’ll be able to choose your preferred day(s), time slot(s), and task(s) from a variety of fun and practical roles. (Just a few jobs—such as selling tickets for alcoholic drinks—are restricted to adult volunteers only.)

Job options include:

• Festival Set‑Up:  Moving and setting up tents, flags, tables, chairs, and other Festival infrastructure. Light lifting required

• Booth and Children’s Activities Monitors:  Monitoring booths such as our Soda Bread Baking Contest or children’s activities such as our Celtic Costume Trunk

• Food Service:  Manning and tidying food service stations such as our barbecue or popcorn and cotton candy tents; collecting food tickets; assembling plates, napkins, and food items
